The North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission has announced the approval of parole for Bobby Malone, inmate number 0254326. Malone was convicted in Mecklenburg County Superior Court for first-degree sexual offense under case number 89 CRS 026905 and sentenced to life in prison on August 18, 1989.

According to the commission, parole was granted through the Mutual Agreement Parole Program (MAPP), which involves a collaborative agreement between the commission, the state prison system, and the offender. The program is designed to provide scholastic and vocational opportunities as part of an inmate’s transition process. Malone’s scheduled release date is January 15, 2026.

The commission noted that current sentencing laws in North Carolina, known as Structured Sentencing, abolished parole for crimes committed on or after October 1, 1994. However, offenders sentenced prior to this date remain eligible for parole consideration under earlier guidelines.

“If you have questions concerning the parole process, please contact the Parole Commission at (919) 716-3010,” stated the North Carolina Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission.
