The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources (DWR) has scheduled public hearings to gather feedback on Enbridge Gas North Carolina’s application for a water quality certification. This is in relation to the proposed construction of a high-pressure steel natural gas transmission pipeline, known as the T-15 Reliability Project, which will affect Rockingham, Caswell, and Person counties.

The first hearing is set for June 12 at 6 p.m. at the Auditorium at Piedmont Community College, Person County Campus in Roxboro. The second hearing will take place on June 24 at 6 p.m. at the Rockingham Community College Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium in Wentworth. Registration for speakers begins at 5:30 p.m. on-site via a sign-in sheet.

Enbridge Gas North Carolina seeks a 401 water quality certification to assess whether their project meets state water quality standards and if it minimizes impacts on surface waters or wetlands. The project plans to permanently impact 690 linear feet of jurisdictional streams and 1.39 acres of wetlands while temporarily affecting additional streams and wetlands during construction.

Public input is invited both verbally during the hearings and through written comments until July 25, 2025. Written submissions should reference project No. 20250069; Version 1 and can be made online or mailed to Sue Homewood at DWR.

Further information about the application and related documents can be accessed online through NCDEQ’s resources on natural gas pipeline projects.

For those requiring information in other languages or translation services during the hearings, contact details are provided by NCDEQ.
