The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) has launched a new campaign in partnership with N.C. State University running back Hollywood Smothers to promote dairy milk as a beneficial sports recovery drink.

Smothers, known for his achievements on the football field, is the central figure in the initiative. The campaign highlights how milk supports his athletic performance and daily activities. Paige Garland, who manages Homeland Creamery in Julian, also appears in the promotion by providing Smothers with a glass of milk during a workout session, illustrating the relationship between local dairy producers and athletes.

“North Carolina has a long history of producing great athletes and local dairy products, and we are excited that our latest student-athlete partnership with Hollywood Smothers celebrates both,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “We are thrilled to partner with this talented athlete in promoting the state’s dairy industry and NC State football. Go Pack!”

The promotional effort will be distributed across multiple social media platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The goal is to demonstrate how dairy milk can benefit not only athletes but also everyday consumers by providing energy and nutrition.

This is the fourth time NCDA&CS has used a student-athlete Name, Image, and Likeness agreement to promote dairy milk, with three campaigns featuring athletes from N.C. State University.
