Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling secured a narrow 19-18 victory over Cornell in its final dual meet of the 2025-26 season. The match, held at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, saw the Wolfpack finish with an overall record of 15-4 and a conference record of 5-1 in the ACC.
Head coach Pat Popolizio has now achieved 12 seasons with at least 10 dual wins during his 14-year tenure. The only exceptions were his first year and the COVID-shortened season.
Both teams won five bouts each, making bonus points decisive in determining the outcome. NC State took control early by winning the first four matches. Technical falls from Isaac Trumble and Zach Redding contributed to an initial 16-0 lead for NC State before Cornell claimed its first win.
Koy Buesgens delivered a standout performance at 149 pounds by defeating second-ranked Jaxon Joy, ending Joy’s undefeated run this season.
At 174 pounds, Matty Singleton lost a close match to Simon Ruiz by an 8-6 decision after leading early.
The Wolfpack will next compete at the ACC Championship on Sunday, March 8, at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia.
