A section of N.C. 33 west of Aurora is scheduled to close temporarily this weekend, contingent on weather conditions. The closure will commence at 8 p.m. on February 7 and continue through the following evening. This shutdown is necessary to facilitate the relocation of drag line equipment across the highway.

According to officials, “signs alerting the public are posted and a detour is in place.” Drivers will be redirected to use N.C. 306, N.C. 55, and NW 3rd Street/Bay City Road to navigate around the closed section.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the detour area and plan for a longer than usual commute during this period.
