The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is hosting a special event for Mother’s Day, titled “Beef, Besties and Bingo,” on Sunday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event offers free food, creative activities, and engaging games to celebrate mothers and friendships.

Coinciding with National Beef Month, the market will hold a live cooking competition called “Can U Cook?” at noon. Competitors Johnathan Rhodes and Chef Gillian will face off in crafting the best beef taco. Attendees can sample these creations at no cost while supplies last.

A “Sip & Create” workshop by Jones Melts will take place from noon to 2 p.m., offering participants various DIY art projects such as wood signs and resin crafts along with drinks from market vendors. Tickets are priced at $25 each and are available for purchase online.

Moon’s Honey House plans to conduct a live beehive demonstration inside an observation cage, allowing visitors to watch beekeepers in action and attempt to identify the queen bee.

Families can also participate in “Livestock Bingo,” an educational game that incorporates farm animal knowledge with traditional bingo gameplay. Prizes from local vendors will be awarded.

Amie Newsome, market manager, stated: “This event is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate Mother’s Day while showcasing the best of North Carolina agriculture.”

The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is operated by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. It aims to support local farmers and artisans by providing a community-focused marketplace open Wednesdays through Sundays at 1801 Yorkmont Rd. Admission is free.
