Mark Robert Eury, a 54-year-old resident of Catawba, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for methamphetamine trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm. The announcement was made by Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

Court documents indicate that Eury was previously convicted in April 2021 for Attempted Trafficking Methamphetamine in North Carolina and received a prison sentence. After his release, he was placed on state probation. On March 12, 2023, while still on probation, authorities from North Carolina Probation and Parole, assisted by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, searched Eury’s premises. During the search, law enforcement found over one and a half kilograms of methamphetamine and more than 47 grams of cocaine. Officers also discovered a loaded .38 caliber Taurus pistol, ammunition, over $2,100 in cash, several sets of scales, and other drug paraphernalia.

Eury pleaded guilty on March 12, 2025 to charges including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons once a facility is designated.

U.S. Attorney Ferguson expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, and the Division of Community Supervision of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte handled the prosecution.”

This case falls under Operation Take Back America—a national initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and reducing violent crime through coordinated efforts involving Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
