Leslie Henley named manager of community supervision operations in Cumberland County

Leslie Henley has been appointed as the new Judicial District Manager for Judicial District 12, which covers Cumberland County, according to an announcement from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). The promotion is effective October 27.

In her new role, Henley will be responsible for overseeing Community Supervision operations in Cumberland County. This district includes 76 probation and parole officers and staff who supervise more than 2,100 individuals under probation, parole, or post-release supervision.

“Leslie Henley’s steady rise in Community Supervision is a testament to her dedication and drive to change lives for the better and build safer communities,” said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “The breadth of her experience and training will be great assets to her team.”

“I am very pleased to promote Leslie Henley,” said Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “Her hard work and commitment have prepared her well for this management position. I know she’ll do a great job.”

Henley began working with NCDAC in 2012 as a probation/parole officer in District 16, which serves Robeson, Hoke, and Scotland counties. She later held roles as field specialist and intake chief probation/parole officer. During this period, she earned certifications such as General Instructor with specialties in Controls, Restraints and Defensive Techniques (CRDT) and Firearms.

In 2022, Henley moved to District 12 in Cumberland County where she continued serving as an intake chief probation/parole officer. She was also involved with the Cumberland County Reentry Council Board. In 2025, she became Assistant Judicial District Manager for District 11 supporting Harnett, Lee, and Johnston counties.

Henley is originally from Lumberton and graduated from Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She has completed several professional development programs including PEAK, Leading at all Levels (LAAL), and the NCDAC Summer Master Leadership Program. Additionally, she participates on various committees such as Supervision Contact and holds multiple certifications.
