Greensboro police investigate fatal crash on South Holden Road

The Greensboro Police Department announced on May 6 that it is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred just after midnight on South Holden Road.

According to the department, officers responded at approximately 12:04 a.m. along with Greensboro Fire and Guilford County EMS to the area of South Holden Road, just north of the Interstate 40 overpass. The driver, identified as Luis Tomas Ventura-Chocoy, age 31 and a resident of Greensboro, was traveling north in a Kia SUV when he lost control and struck a tree in the center median.

Police said Ventura-Chocoy died from his injuries at the scene. He was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit from Greensboro Police is leading an ongoing investigation into what caused Ventura-Chocoy to lose control of his vehicle.
