FOIA Request to Village of Bald Head Island regarding new or amended contracts on February 1, 2026.

A request under the North Carolina Public Records Law was submitted by Old North News to the Village of Bald Head Island. The request seeks access to records related to new contracts and amendments to existing contracts that were executed, approved, or became effective during the immediately preceding calendar month. The requested records include contract or amendment titles, names of contracting parties, effective and approval dates, contract amounts or amended values, and descriptions of the goods or services covered.

The request emphasizes that it is limited to records that currently exist and does not require the creation of new documents. It also specifies a preference for receiving the information in electronic format. In case any portion of the request is denied or withheld, Old North News has asked for the specific statutory basis for such denial and requests that all reasonably segregable portions of the records be released.

Old North News identifies itself as a member of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies. The organization leverages Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to promote transparency in government actions.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
