FOIA Request to Town of Bayboro regarding procurement bids and RFP submissions on February 1, 2026.
The Old North News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Bayboro seeking access to records related to procurement bids and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) received by the city during the immediately preceding calendar month. The request was made under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
The requested records include details such as solicitation or project titles, names of bidders or proposers, submission dates, bid amounts or proposed costs, and descriptions of the goods or services proposed. This request is aimed at gathering information of public interest for dissemination and does not require the creation of new documents but seeks existing records only.
In case any part of this request is denied or withheld, Old North News has asked for specific statutory reasons for such denial and requests that all reasonably segregable portions of the records be released. Additionally, they have requested a fee waiver as members of the media involved in reporting news to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency.
Old North News is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies using Freedom of Information laws.
