FOIA Request to Guilford County Tax Department Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 – Present on May 12, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Old North News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Guilford County Tax Department. Our request seeks access to property tax records for the years 2024 and any available data for 2025. Specifically, we are requesting details that include Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value for properties within the county.

This request is made under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format. As members of the media, our role involves gathering and reporting news to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for the public. We believe this qualifies us for a fee waiver typically available to media professionals.

In addition to our journalistic endeavors, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This partnership underscores our dedication to pulling back the curtain on government actions and informing the American electorate.

We await a response from the Guilford County Tax Department and are prepared to address any questions they may have regarding our request.
