Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the public school district serving Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, has shared updates and resources for families ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year through a series of posts on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
On August 4, 2025, the district posted: “CMS Families! We invite you to access our online resources as you prepare for the upcoming school year.

The following day, on August 5, 2025, the district highlighted an opportunity for families of Early and Middle College students: “Families of Early and Middle College students—join us at 3 PM today for our virtual Family Academy Open House in collaboration with CPCC. Discover helpful tips and resources to support your student’s success from day one.
Join us at https://t.co/2fNk79R2pO https://t.co/vhBjytad8E”.
These communications come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools faces staffing challenges ahead of the new school year. According to CMS human resources officials, just under 400 teacher positions remain unfilled after more than 2,100 teachers left the district last year. The district does not expect to fill all vacancies before classes begin—a situation that has raised concerns among students (source).
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is one of North Carolina’s largest public school districts and serves a diverse student population across urban and suburban communities.
