Later that same morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools invited community members to attend in-person sessions focused on budget planning. The post stated: “Join us at our upcoming community engagement sessions to learn more about CMS budget planning for the 2026–27 school year.
We have four in-person community engagement sessions scheduled.
All sessions begin at 6 p.m. Learn more about our budget at https://t.co/j6RgjDQnin. https://t.co/oGj6IpKBQ7“
These efforts come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools continues to face staffing challenges. According to human resources officials with the district, nearly 400 teaching positions remain unfilled ahead of the coming school year. Last year alone, over 2,100 teachers left their jobs within CMS. The district does not anticipate filling all vacancies before classes resume—a situation that has raised concerns among students (source).
