Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools shared a series of updates on its official Twitter account, highlighting the conclusion of the first week of the 2025-2026 academic year and Superintendent Dr. Hill’s visits to several campuses.
On August 28, the district posted, “The #CMSFirstWeek tour is out of this world! Dr. Hill’s mission on Day 4 included stops at Matthews Elementary, Polo Ridge Elementary, Rea Farms STEAM Academy, & Carmel Middle. So many star students and stellar teachers are launching into a great school year! #StellarStudents”.
A subsequent post on August 29 provided additional details about the week’s activities: “What a first week! Our new CMS Inside Connection is packed with highlights: Dr. Hill’s school tour, important updates on safety & cell phones, a look at innovative teacher training Get the inside scoop on the start to the school year. Full episode: https://t.co/RU9evSE2Az”.
Later that same day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools marked the end of the first week by stating, “1st week of school: COMPLETE! Dr. Hill wrapped up her tour today w/ visits to Hopewell HS, Huntersville ES & Dorothy J. Vaughan Academy of Technology. Thank you to all our students & staff for an amazing start to the year! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! #FirstWeekFeels”.
These updates come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools faces ongoing staffing challenges. The district began the school year needing just under 400 teachers to be fully staffed after more than 2,100 educators left last year—a situation that has raised concerns among students and administrators alike (WCNC). District officials have indicated they do not expect all vacancies will be filled immediately.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools serves as one of North Carolina’s largest public school districts and regularly communicates updates and initiatives through its social media channels.
