Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced upcoming schedule changes and events in a series of recent posts on X, including reminders about teacher workdays and an introduction to educational resources for students and families.
On September 22, 2025, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools posted: “REMINDER! Tomorrow, September 23, 2025 is a teacher workday. There will be no classes that day.”
The district followed up with an invitation on September 24, stating: “Join us for an engaging introduction to learn about the free resources available through CMS Media Services and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, designed to support our CMS students and families! September 25, 2025 12-1 PM https://t.co/2fNk79R2pO https://t.co/SBYEiHe0wY”
On September 25, another schedule update was provided: “MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Thursday, October 2, 2025 is a teacher workday. There will be no classes that day.”
These announcements come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools continues to face staffing challenges. According to district human resources officials cited by WCNC, more than 2,100 teachers left the district last year. The district currently needs just under 400 teachers to be fully staffed for the new school year and does not expect all open positions will be filled before classes resume—a situation that has raised concerns among students (source).
