Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools recently highlighted several initiatives and achievements in a series of social media posts, including the launch of a new parent portal, recognition of principal finalists, and promotion of a college application program for seniors.
On September 30, 2025, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced an upcoming event: “Family Academy Lunch & Learn: Delve into the newly launched Mastery Connect Parent Portal. This tool provides real-time access to your child’s progress on standards-based assessments, helping you stay informed & engaged. October 2, 2025 12-1 PM https://t.co/2fNk79R2pO https://t.co/wyxYqVoLQX”.
The following day, October 1, the district celebrated school leadership by sharing: “Please join us in giving a huge congratulations to our 2026 Principal of the Year Finalists! Each of these incredible principals has shown unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and a deep commitment to the success of their students https://t.co/uL3SJ88sTv https://t.co/DB9J5NoIV0”.
Later that same day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools addressed graduating seniors with information about higher education opportunities: “Hello families of CMS 12th graders, if you’re looking to continue your education close to home, check out the NC College Connect program! It makes it easy to apply to college, explore majors, & skip the wait of the traditional application process. Visit https://t.co/6Q3PFbHtZ2. https://t.co/jSP4AMOhSE”.
These updates come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools faces staffing challenges ahead of the new academic year. The district needs nearly 400 additional teachers to be fully staffed after losing more than 2,100 educators last year. District officials do not expect all vacancies will be filled before classes begin—a situation that has raised concerns among students (WCNC).
