Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools recently highlighted several updates for students and families, including career-readiness initiatives and access to academic records.

On January 14, 2026, the district posted about a student competition designed to foster professional skills. According to the post, “The Amazing Shake is career-readiness in action for our seventh graders! Learn how the competition works, hear from students who are embracing the challenge and district leaders who see it as a complement to career readiness education.”

Later that day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools informed families about upcoming access to student report cards. The post stated on January 14, 2026: “Families of students in grades 3–12 will have access to report cards through Infinite Campus. Second quarter report cards will be available on Feb. 3, 2026. Please use this guide to access report cards in Infinite Campus.”

The following day, on January 15, the district promoted its weekly news update featuring various school events and recognitions: “This week’s edition of CMS Inside Connection has a visit from Governor Josh Stein, an “amazing” competition for our seventh graders, honors for a standout PE teacher, and much more. Don’t miss it!”

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools serves as one of North Carolina’s largest public school districts. As reported by local media, the district is currently facing staffing challenges; just under 400 teaching positions remain unfilled before the new school year begins. More than 2,100 teachers left the district last year—a shortage that continues to raise concerns among students and administrators (source).
