Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has announced a series of resources and events aimed at preparing families, students, and staff for the upcoming school year, according to recent posts on its official social media account.

A day later, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools shared details about an upcoming event designed to engage families as the academic year begins. On August 12, the district wrote: “Thursday, August 14 for our Open House Series with Family Academy — a day designed to empower and inform families as we kick off the new school year! Session Times: Elementary – 10 AM Middle – 12 PM High – 2: PM Join us at https://t.co/2fNk79R2pO https://t.co/t0cvZ6hgym”.

Also on August 12, Superintendent Dr. Hill addressed the community with a message for students, families, and staff. The announcements come as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools faces staffing challenges ahead of the first day of classes. According to district human resources officials, just under 400 teaching positions remain unfilled as the new school year approaches. More than 2,100 teachers left CMS last year, and district leaders do not expect every vacancy will be filled before students return—a situation that has raised concerns among some students (source).

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is one of North Carolina’s largest public school districts and regularly communicates updates through its official channels regarding events and available resources for its community.
