The district also recognized its school counselors during National School Counseling Week. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools serves as one of North Carolina’s largest public school districts and continues to address staffing challenges as it prepares for the new academic year. According to district officials, nearly 400 teaching positions remain unfilled after more than 2,100 teachers left last year; this shortfall is causing concern among students and staff about being fully staffed before classes begin (source). The district continues its outreach efforts through family education sessions and enrollment drives while recognizing the contributions of its current staff.
