The Carolina Hurricanes will begin their postseason campaign against the Ottawa Senators at Lenovo Center on April 18, with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The matchup marks the start of a best-of-seven series and will be broadcast on ESPN, FanDuel Sports Network South, and streamed via the FanDuel Sports Network App.

This opening game is significant as it launches the Hurricanes’ eighth consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and their first time entering as the top seed in the Eastern Conference after finishing with a record of 53-22-7. The team recently secured a narrow victory over the New York Islanders to close out their regular season.

Goaltending decisions remain under consideration, with head coach Rod Brind’Amour indicating both Frederik Andersen and Brandon Bussi may see playing time during Round 1. Andersen took part in practice as starting goaltender after finishing strong post-Olympic break, while Bussi also ended his season on an impressive run. Pyotr Kochetkov has returned from injury but is not yet expected to start.

The Senators finished fifth in the Atlantic Division and qualified for playoffs as a wild card entry. They have performed well since January but struggled with penalty killing this season—an area where Carolina holds an advantage due to its strong power play percentage.

Lenovo Center, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, serves as home arena for the Hurricanes and can accommodate up to 20,000 spectators while hosting more than 150 events annually according to its official website. The venue features over 700,000 square feet of space across multiple seating levels with various amenities including suites and concession stands according to its official website. The team’s activities contribute more than $200 million each year to the local economy through events and community engagement according to its official website.

Notable players such as Eric Staal and Rod Brind’Amour have been recognized by induction into the franchise’s Hall of Fame for their significant contributions according to its official website. The organization previously achieved a major milestone by winning the Stanley Cup in 2006 according to its official website.

After Game 1 concludes Saturday afternoon, Carolina will practice Sunday before resuming playoff action Monday evening for Game 2 against Ottawa.
