Burke County Planning Board schedules public meeting for rezoning request on April 23

The Burke County Planning Board announced on Apr. 13 that it will hold a public meeting at 5:30 PM on April 23, 2026, in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the County Services Building located at 110 N. Green St., Morganton, North Carolina.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public comments regarding a request from applicants Dalton Buchanan and Emma Seagraves to rezone a parcel of land at 2524 Branch Drive, Valdese (PIN #2723040812) from Residential-One (R-1) to Residential-Two (R-2).

Community members are encouraged to participate by submitting written comments or concerns about the proposed rezoning. Written input can be sent via email to Community@burkenc.org or mailed to Burke County Community Development, P.O. Box 219, Morganton, NC 28680.

All written comments must be received by Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM. For questions regarding the proposal or participation in the meeting, residents may contact Burke County Community Development at (828) 764-9033.

This public hearing provides an opportunity for citizens to voice their opinions and contribute feedback before any decision is made regarding changes in land use designation.
