Governor Josh Stein announced that BSH Home Appliances Corporation, a division of the Bosch Group, will expand its New Bern facility in Craven County. This expansion will bring 199 new jobs and involve an investment of over $11 million. The facility is set to become a hub for innovation and manufacturing in the U.S.
Governor Stein remarked, “When globally known companies like BSH choose North Carolina for an expansion, it confirms the strength of our workforce.” He highlighted North Carolina’s significant manufacturing workforce as a factor in attracting such investments.
BSH, headquartered in Munich with its North American base in California, produces appliances under brands like Bosch and Thermador. The expansion at New Bern aims to centralize research, innovation, manufacturing, distribution, and customer support.
Darcy Clarkson, CEO of BSH Region North America, noted the deepening relationship with North Carolina: “New Bern’s importance to BSH is growing.” Andy MacLaren, CTO of BSH Region North America, expressed pride in their longstanding community presence and anticipated further contributions.
Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley emphasized that this move underscores North Carolina’s manufacturing reputation. Previous meetings between state leaders and BSH in Germany laid groundwork for this development.
The average salary for new roles will be $60,779 annually, surpassing Craven County’s average wage. A performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund will support this project but requires local government matching.
Senator Bob Brinson welcomed the expansion as beneficial for eastern North Carolina’s workforce. Representative Steve Tyson praised local partnerships that facilitated this investment.
Key partners include various state entities such as the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and educational institutions like Craven Community College.
