Bank of America announced on Apr. 16 a $5 million capital gift to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, as well as continued support for the conservation of presidential portraits at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

The announcement comes as the United States prepares for its 250th anniversary, with Bank of America aiming to help preserve the legacy and history of American presidents. The partnership is intended to support both new projects, such as the construction and development of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, and ongoing efforts to maintain historical artifacts.

According to Bank of America, this commitment includes not only funding for the library but also ongoing assessment and conservation work on 110 presidential portraits and frames at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. The goal is to ensure that these important pieces of history are preserved for future generations.

The announcement was made during a private event in Washington, D.C., which brought together civic leaders, cultural institutions, business executives, and clients. The event took place during a week focused on democracy, leadership, and discussions about the global economy in the nation’s capital.

As preparations continue for America’s semiquincentennial celebrations, Bank of America’s involvement highlights efforts by private organizations to contribute resources toward preserving national heritage.
