Asheville Rides Transit (ART) passengers can now use a new website, ridetheart.com, to plan their trips with real-time information, according to a May 6 announcement from the City of Asheville.

The launch of this website aims to make it easier for residents and visitors to navigate the city’s bus system. The site is designed for both desktop and mobile devices, offering features such as real-time departure information for specific stops, saved favorite stops, live tracking of buses on route maps, and service alerts affecting routes or the entire system.

Chris Whitlock, the City’s Transit Division Manager, said: “We’re excited to offer these new tools for our community. We’ve listened to feedback from passengers, and believe this new site will make planning an ART trip easier and more efficient.”

In addition to trip planning tools, the website now presents bus route maps online instead of only as printable documents. It also serves as a central location for all ART policies and information that were previously spread across multiple web pages.

Asheville delivers municipal services and governance within its city limits through coordination among departments such as Public Works and Planning. The city operates under a council-manager government structure with elected officials setting policy while a city manager oversees operations according to the official website.

The broader goal behind initiatives like ridetheart.com is part of Asheville’s ongoing efforts in long-term community engagement and sustainable development according to the official website.
