Rep. Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing North Carolina’s 12th district, has been vocal on social media regarding legislative actions and concerns related to education and taxpayer data protection. Adams has served in Congress since 2014, following her tenure in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

On February 6, 2025, Rep. Adams expressed her support for new legislation aimed at safeguarding taxpayer information from unauthorized access by high-profile individuals such as Elon Musk. She stated, “Today, I was proud to cosponsor the Taxpayer Data Protection Act that would prevent Elon Musk and others in the future from accessing hard working Americans’ sensitive taxpayer data.”

The following day, February 7, 2025, Rep. Adams announced her participation with fellow House Democrats in seeking clarification from the Trump Administration regarding its intentions toward the Department of Education. In her post she wrote: “WATCH LIVE: This morning I’m joining ⁦⁦@HouseDemocrats⁩ to demand answers from the Trump Administration about their plan to dismantle ⁦@usedgov⁩.”

Later that day, she reiterated her stance against efforts by Donald Trump and Elon Musk that she perceives as threats to public education funding. Her tweet read: “We won’t let Donald Trump and Elon Musk defund our public education system.”
